“Man! If only you knew! Skateboard is the strongest antidepressent in my life! I don’t need to take any medication, or any drugs. I have the feeling we’re a bit a lost generation, you see. Some of us don’t know what to hold on to. Some will hold on to partying, and if that’s not enough, to the drugs also. And skateboard always helped me to stay on course.

Skateboard teaches you to always keep fighting, to keep going, and not to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. If you miss a trick and you keep doing the same thing, you’ll always have the same result, you see. So, you keep going, but you try to change a little thing: tilt the feet a bit more, but a bit more strength, etc. You spend 1 hour trying to do your stuff, you’re struggling, you get hit by the board in the tibia… But after some time, after 1 week or 1 month, you’ll finally be able to do your trick, and you’re so happy! You can’t put it in words.

Everyone has his own board, and tries to do his own tricks, but in the end, we’re all happy when someone succeeds in doing his trick. I’ve always tried to change that mentality of : “It’s my trick, I keep it to myself!”. It’s still a bit like this in Geneva. We’re trying to set another example. I’m part of Da Shit crew, it’s a skateboard brand created by a group of friends. It’s been around for 10 years. With Da Shit, we accept everyone. “We are Da Shit, you are Da shit”, that’s been the motto from the start.

Actually, skateboard makes you grow so much as a person. For example, I have friends who are 50 years old, and other who are 13. We make no distinctions. I’ve been training a young girl, and she’s gonna be so good in a few years. I hope that’ll motive more girls to skate. As long as you’re skating, and you’re really into it, whether you’re a guy, a girl, in between or neither one, whether you’re attracted to this or that… we don’t give a shit who you are! Come and skate!”
