[Part 5/5] A few weeks after our conversation, K. finally got an exit card [carte de sortie]. After having spent more than 3 years away from his family trying to settle in several European countries, after having spent 1 month on the streets in Geneva, he finally decided to return to Ivory Coast. I went with him to the airport for the last hours of this long journey. Wearing the red suit that a friend bought him on the occasion of his departure, he talks about his family, about his life back home. He shows me his hometown, his neighborhood, and describes the local food that he is also impatient to taste again. It was a moving moment that marked for him the end of many sufferings and disappointments.

He wished to be photographed with his face uncovered to give more strength to his testimony, so that no one can say this story was invented. A few days after his arrival, he sent me this picture of him with his wife and two children. As K said, it is the beginning of a new chapter in his life, one which will be full of new challenges and opportunities.
