“That’s a real story! I get a lot of signs in my life. The thing is to always listen to them. It was my second year in Geneva. I had no social life, all I did was work. And I had to organize a travel for work for the first time. So I went to the travel agency, and he was the only free agent, so I went to him. Then, at some point, I heard a voice that said: “You’re going to spend the rest of your life with this man”. I heard it clearly! And I answered in silence: “Tell me at least his name!”.

But I left for India, and I didn’t know his name. I didn’t know at that time, but there had been an American party in Geneva a year ago, and he had noticed me, but he hadn’t said anything. And on this day at the agency, he remembered me, but he didn’t say anything either.

When I came back, I offered him a little gift, and he asked me out. I suggested Saturday day time, and he replied: “No, I have to take my mother to the doctor”. And I decided: “That’s it, he’s gay!” (laughs). But we eventually went out, we had a drink and we talked till 3 am. It was so easy. We just talked, and talked, and talked. And then we just took walks for 6 weeks (laughs)!

We’ve been married for 27 years now, and he makes me laugh every day. In my mind, I have little categories of people. And the top category of people is “exceptional human beings”. And in that club there are only 3 people: one is my dad, and one is my husband.  He’s an extraordinary human being! I thank my guardian angels that I said yes to Alexander, because he makes me a better person. Be with people who are better than you, always. Choose friends who are better than you. Choose a partner who’s better than you. Because it always pushes you to become better.”
